Adoption

Giving a rescued animal a Fur-Ever home is one of the greatest joys in life.

The love in the eyes of your new friend when they realise that you want them to be a part of your family is beyond description.

How to adopt a dog from FurBuddies ARC

It couldn’t be easier to adopt a dog from us. Our rehoming centre is our home, so the dogs we have for adoption will be staying with us or one of our fosters.

We have all sorts of dogs for all sorts of people. Each one of our FurBuddies is unique and special. We are sure we can help help you find the right one for you.

1.  Find a dog online.

We can have all kinds of dogs in our care, from puppies to seniors, small to large, quite to energetic dogs. A vast array of breeds including Border Collies, Lurchers, German Shepherds, Spaniels, Shih Tzus and all sorts of Terriers.
Most of the dogs we have are being rehomed due to family circumstances, some due to neglect and, some may even have be born in our care.
Each of our dogs comes with a story and a ready-made personality.

2.  Get to meet your chosen dog.

If we think that the dog you’ve chosen is the right dog for you then it’s time to meet.
We arrange a Meet & Greet where everyone in the household, this includes other dogs, get to meet your chosen dog. This is normally held in a neutral space. To rule out allergies or other issues, so you may be asked to arrange a second visit at the centre.

3.  Home Visit.

One of our Home Check Volunteers will then visit your home to ensure it is a safe environment for your new FurBuddy and to discuss your new dog with you.
Your home visitor will give you some tips on caring for your dog, including any adjustments to your lifestyle that will help you and your dog to settle into a safe, secure and happy life together.
This could include information on preparing your home and garden, removing potential dangers, shopping for the right collar and lead, identification tags, food, bed and toys.

4.  Collect your new FurBuddy.

When everyone is happy that your chosen dog is the right dog for you, and that your home is suitable and ready for it’s newest addition, it’s time to head back to us to officially adopt your new FurBuddy.
Your dog will be microchipped and fully vaccinated, as well as having up-to-date flea and worming treatment. This is all included in the one-off adoption fee.
We can’t give away our dogs for free. So your donations cover a lot of veterinary expenses, such as microchipping, vaccinations and neutering, that would usually add up after buying a pet. ALL of the donations got to the welfare of the animals in our care.

5.  Settling In.

Your new dog may be nervous while they get used to you and your home, so be patient and don’t worry if there are a few hiccups. We are always on hand for any queries or issues you may have.
After a few weeks we’ll can arrange for our Home Check Volunteers to come and see how you are all getting on. This is a great opportunity to ask questions and get extra support if needed.
