Otis
Otis is looking for his Fur-Ever home.
Otis is an amazing boy, he is 2 in December. I have spent a lot of time training with him and he is excellent with children and other dogs. He wouldn’t be suited to a home with cats or small furries as he has a high prey drive. He is neutered, vaccinated, wormed and microchipped. He is 34kg.
He is very good with other dogs of all sizes but can be playful so a new owner would need to bear this in mind.
He is great with people and is very affectionate, he would be well suited to a home with or without another dog but in the situation where he may find a home with another dog a female would be better I think.
He is strong on a lead and his prey drive can be strong however he knows a lot of commands and is very responsive to training, he loves to learn new things and is highly food driven. He knows sit, down, left, right, heel, come, middle, wait and stay.
I would love for him to go to a home interested in keeping up his training as he enjoys learning new things so much. He would do excellently at gun dog training or any kind of scent work.
He loves to play tug and enjoys playing fetch. He is an active dog who needs plenty of exercise and daily stimulation, however after a long walk he loves to curl up on the sofa and have a cuddle and a snooze.
Otis travels well in the car and will jump in with excitement as he loves going on adventures, he does however whine if he gets over excited, he doesn’t get car sick or stressed in the car he’s just very excited to get to where you’re going so this can be a little annoying but he does settle on longer journeys.
He is raw fed and this needs to be maintained as he has a couple of allergies, however when raw fed these are managed completely by diet. He is in very good health, and was neutered at 18 months old.
He has never shown any aggression or resource guarding, he stays with my friend regularly who has multiple dogs, he never guards anything from them and will always give up toys willingly to the other dogs and us. He knows drop and leave and responds well to this, he doesn’t break or ruin anything but he does like to carry things like socks and give them to you especially when you get home this is his way of showing love, he has always brought guests visiting us his toys or socks he’s found as a hello, it is very sweet.
He doesn’t cope well with being left for long periods of time so would suit a family/owner who is at home most of the time or would like to take him with them on their adventures. He is a very sweet and sensitive boy who responds very well to positive reinforcement and affection. In a home where he will have a dog friend he will relax better when left, when he stays at my friends with 4 dogs he can be left for a couple of hours without getting stressed. He just doesn’t like to be alone, saying that a home where he is left minimal amounts would be prefered.
I am honestly heartbroken. I am making this decision, otis has been my whole world for the last 2 years. I have taken him on my weekends away, to work, out on day trips and spent a lot of time at home and out and about training with him. He is an incredible boy, super balanced and affectionate with people and other dogs, there is absolutely nothing I would change about him. He is honestly amazing and whoever his new owner is will fall in love with him because he has a big personality you just can’t not love.
